About the Role
We are looking for a smart, field-ready Multimedia Broadcast Journalist to gather and produce news content for both radio and digital platforms.
The successful candidates will report, write, record, and file accurate stories while adhering to professional journalism standards and broadcast regulations under the National Broadcasting Commission.
Key Responsibilities
- Gather news stories for radio bulletins and digital platforms
- Conduct interviews and field reporting assignments
- Write and file accurate scripts for broadcast
- Produce audio reports and short digital updates
- Capture basic mobile videos and photos where required
- Provide timely updates during breaking news
- Contribute to social media and website content production
- Ensure fact-checking, balance, and ethical reporting
- Meet daily filing deadlines
Required Skills & Competencies
- Knowledge of editorial judgement and ethics of journalism
- Strong news sense and storytelling ability
- Excellent writing and script development skills
- Clear voice delivery and audio recording competence
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Strong verification and fact-checking capability
- Digital literacy (social media, basic editing tools)
- Good knowledge of Abuja and national news environment
- Ability to work independently and in a team
Professional & Academic Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, or related field
- Two to five (2–5) years relevant experience in broadcast and digital journalism
- Experience in field reporting is an advantage
- Ability to clearly speak, write and translate from/into Hausa and English is essential; additional local language skills (e.g. Gbagyi) are an added advantage
- Demonstrable portfolio of published or broadcast work
