About the Role
We are looking for an experienced and editorially sound News Editor/Senior Producer to run the daily news desk and ensure high-quality, accurate, and timely news output.
The successful candidate will coordinate newsroom operations, supervise reporters and producers, and ensure compliance with professional and regulatory standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Run and coordinate the daily news desk operations
- Assign stories and supervise reporters
- Edit scripts for accuracy, clarity, and balance
- Oversee bulletin production and news rundowns
- Coordinate breaking news and live coverage
- Ensure fact-checking and verification standards
- Supervise digital news updates in collaboration with the digital team
- Maintain compliance with editorial and regulatory guidelines
- Monitor news sources, wires, and field reports
Required Skills & Competencies
- Strong editorial judgment and decision-making ability
- Excellent script editing and news writing skills
- Experience managing breaking news and live programming
- Strong verification and fact-checking discipline
- Ability to lead and coordinate newsroom staff
- Knowledge of Nigerian media regulations and broadcast ethics
- Ability to work under pressure and tight deadlines
- Familiarity with digital-first newsroom workflows
Professional & Academic Qualifications
- Minimum of a Bachelor’s Degree in Mass Communication, Journalism, Media Studies, or related field
- Minimum of five (5) years relevant experience in multimedia broadcast journalism
- At least 2–3 years experience in a senior newsroom or production role
- Experience in a converged or digital newsroom environment is an advantage
- Professional journalism training or certifications are an added advantage
